· PLC’s integrated into DCS include Allen Bradley for coke handling, RO plant and heaters/boilers, Modicon for PSA unit and GE Fanuc for Dresser Compressors.

Control Systems Integration / Commissioning (Contract)
· VICIS Network - Drilling Ship Automation - Responsible for integration of drilling tool controllers; Siemens S5, S5-135, S7-300 and 400, GE Fanuc, Allen Bradley PLC's via Profibus and Ethernet into an NT network for Diamond Offshore's 'Ocean Confidence'.
· The drilling operation is completely controlled by a Drilling chair with four MMI touch-screens, joysticks and hardwired switches.
· Auxiliary services such as pipe racking, mud, and constant motion control are controlled by the assistant driller's chair with three MMI's. MMI graphics and controls are provided with Wonderware Factory Suite 7.0 using PCDDE. Siemens PLC languages utilized are SCL (Pascal) and STL.
Saudi Arabian American Oil Company – Saudi Arabia 1977 - 1998
Lead Engineer - Control Systems/Instrumentation, Northern Area Producing/Control Systems & Automation Unit, Tanajib, Saudi Arabia. (1991 – 1998)
· Direct and supervise twelve (12) Engineers in software development and upgrades for the office and plant systems.
· Perform LAN administration and computer security; formulate forecasts of computing needs and prepare budgets for plant upgrades and replacements.
Projects include:
· Upgrade ARB-1 work-over barge’s Allen Bradley leg jack-up to Rockwell Software RSLogic and RSView running Windows NT.
· Rewrite the well test software to Windows NT using C++ foundation class Libraries OBDC to Oracle 7.0 database for uploading to Sun Oracle Network for Petroleum Engineering.
· Manage Honeywell TDC-3000 control systems with smart transmitters, mostly Triconex ESD systems and a variety of programmable logic controllers.
· Completed SCADA systems with Bristol Babcock RTU’s at wellhead communicating via radio or submarine cable to offshore gas oil separation plant control room Honeywell TDC3000 Communication Link Modules mirrored to Application Modules.
Lead Engineer Control Systems/Instrumentation, Northern Area Producing/NAP Specialist Unit, Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia. (1988 – 1991)
· Directed six (6) engineers in control system engineering and commissioning support for one (1) offshore plant and six (6) onshore plants.
· Control systems were Honeywell Vuetronic, mostly Gould Modicon and Powell solid state ESD systems and a variety of programmable logic controllers.
· SCADA systems were SCI RTU’s communicating via submarine cable from wellheads and tie-in platforms to a Perkin Elmer mini-computer onshore.
Control Systems/Instrumentation Specialist, Northern Area Producing/NAP Specialist Unit, Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia. (1986 – 1988)
· Managed the design and installation of instrumentation, metering and well test interfacing for well test barges. Wrote well test software, hardware and graphical interface in ‘C’ language for well test barge Arabiyah III, IV and V. Wrote an interface for a Well test separator on tie-in platform number three, Berri field, reading the data from the onshore Perkin-Elmer computer local RTU’s into a PC and performed well testing onshore.
· The Arabiyah IV & V interfaced through a Burr-Brown PCI-3000 data acquisition system. The Arabiyah III utilized Powell Micons for separator control; wrote an interface to the Micons for PC data acquisition for well test. All well PVT data was converted into polynomials for quick calculations rather than searching tables.
Lead Commissioning Engineer, NAPOE/NAP Specialists, Tanajib, Saudi Arabia, Offshore Gas Oil Separation Plant, Zuluf IV (1985 –1986)
· Managed the installation of Foxboro Video Spec IV, Fox 300 computer and all instrumentation, including Rolles Royce Gas generators and Prismic and Symac load sharing/shedding to GOSP 3.
Operations Advisor / Control Specialist, Northern Area Producing Operations (1984 – 1985)
· Managed all new distributed controls and SCADA systems. Coordinated the design and installation of digital control systems (Foxboro Video Spec IV, Fox 300, and Fox 1A computers, Honeywell TDC-2000 with 4500 computer) in seven (7) new offshore and two (2) onshore plants.
Commissioning Engineer, NAPOE/NAP Specialists Unit, Abu Ali, Saudi Arabia (1982 – 1984)
· Commissioned all instrumentation, Honeywell Vuetrinic, Powell solid state emergency shutdown systems for a GOSP, water injection plant, gas compressor using Speedtronic Mark II for control and Powell-Micon for antisurge. Commissioned Baker CAC hydraulic well shutdown systems in offshore Berri field.
· Commissioned a SCADA system consisting of redundant Perkin Elmer computers, 4 FDM’s, 21 SCI RTU’s which tie into the well test barge for testing the Berri field.
Instrumentation Specialist, NAPOE/NAP Specialists Unit, Ras Tanura, SA (1981 – 1982)
· Managed instrumentation for one (1) offshore plant and four (4) onshore plants which included metering, relief systems, and control system problems in these producing plants.

· Resolved specific operating plant problems; units were broken up when Producing, Terminal, and Refining and Distribution Engineering units were formed in 1981.
Instrumentation Specialist, ARAMCO Services Company, Houston Texas (1977 – 1979)
· Reviewed project drawings and specifications; attended project meetings representing ARAMCO proponents in Saudi Arabia. Spent two tours in Arabia conducting plant safety surveys, as-building Abqaiq plant drawing and vacation relief. Project Engineer on Gazlan Power plant Project.
Bechtel Power Corporation – San Francisco, California 1976 - 1977
Instrumentation Design Engineer
· Designed control systems in final stages of two (2) coal fired power plants at Rock Springs, Wyoming. Laid out the alarm points, control valve order, and assisted with logic diagrams.
Pacific Gas and Electric – San Francisco, California 1973 - 1976
Field Electrical / Instrument Engineer
· Provided the construction conversion of boilers to burn crude oil. Installed scanners, burner front management computers and tank farm SCADA systems.
· Burner management control in Moss Landing plant was DEC PDP-11 computers, and Pittsburgh plant was Bailey 860 solid state systems. These conversions included all plant wiring, from pumps to damper controls to purge systems.
